Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is an easy, low-cost solution to supplementing existing water supplies and mitigating the effects of drier spells and periods of low rainfall. It is ideal for homeowners, where the water collected by capturing runoff can be used for irrigation, washing, topping up the pool, etc. Farms and municipalities can also benefit from rainwater harvesting.

JoJo Tanks supplies a complete range of high-quality polyethylene tank solutions in a wide range of sizes for both above- and below-ground rainwater harvesting.

By connecting your guttering systems to a pipe network that feeds into your JoJo Tank, you can enhance your water security against drought and rely less on regulated bulk supply. Calculate how much water you can collect per year through rainwater harvesting here.

Aboveground Rainwater Harvesting

The installation of a tank that sits above-ground and is automatically filled when it rains. Aboveground rainwater harvesting requires the installation of suitable guttering and piping to transport the collected rainwater to the tank.

  • Free & unlimited water supply (whenever it rains)
  • Store rainwater accessed from the roof
  • Rainwater filtered prior to entering the tank
  • Water suitable for irrigation, washing, topping up the pool etc.

Underground Rainwater Harvesting

The installation of an underground tank that is filled automatically when it rains. Underground rainwater harvesting requires the installation of suitable guttering and piping to transport rainwater to the tank, as well as a submersible pump to supply water as required.

  • Free & unlimited water supply (whenever it rains)
  • Store rainwater accessed from the roof
  • Rainwater filtered prior to entering the tank
  • Water suitable for irrigation, washing, topping up the pool etc.

6000 Litre Underground Tank

The 6000 litre underground tank, with its’ rugged, ribbed design, offers superior strength for underground installation and the rib placement provides exceptional structural integrity.

Length: 3 330 mm | Diameter: 1 900 mm | Height: 1 980 mm

Smaller range of tanks

If the 6000 litre underground tank is too large, any of our heavy-duty conservancy tanks can be used for underground rainwater harvesting as well.

The structure design is sturdy enough to withstand the pressure of the soil when it is empty. See installation instructions for soil requirements and specifications.

Invest in the future! Speak to your JoJo Tanks distributor today to find out more about rainwater harvesting for your application.

Why you need to invest in rainwater harvesting today:

Models that monitor our available water resources and their rate of consumption point to a critical situation in South Africa where, at the current rate, demand for water will exceed its supply. This will not only endanger the survival of millions of people, it will drive up the cost of water and place additional stress on already critical natural water sources.

South Africans need to act now to ensure we don’t get to this stage. Only by more efficient, more sustainable usage of water resources can we hope to achieve a future where all of us have access to this vital resource!

This, together with the predictions that global climate conditions are becoming more extreme, with more intense bouts of rainfall amongst longer dry periods, means that rainwater harvesting is becoming absolutely critical to our survival as South Africans. The time to act is now!
